Lee Davy brings you updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.

The online poker room 888Poker seems to be a curse for the players involved in the November Nine as all three players who were sponsored by the site have now hit the rail after Qui Nguyen sends Kenny Hallaert packing.

Hallaert opens to 2,300,000 from under the gun, Qui Nguyen three-bets to 5,700,000 from the cutoff; Hallaert moves all-in for 35,625,000 and Nguyen makes the call.

Qui Nguyen opens to 1,300,000 from middle position, and Jerry Wong makes the call in the big blind. The flop is [Ad] [3d] [2c]; Wong checks, Nguyen bets 1,750,000, and Wong moves all-in. Nguyen folds.

WSOP Final Table: Griffin Benger Eliminated in 7th Place ($1,250,190)

Lee Davy brings you updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is going the way of starting chip stacks as we lose our third player during Hand #68, and it’s Griffin Benger who makes way.

Benger, who was thrust into the world’s spotlight after ESPN’s coverage of the infamous hand that led to the demise of William Kassouf in 17th place, moves all-in for 7,325,000 out of the big blind after a 2,200,000 button open from Gordon Vayo, and the call is made.

WSOP Final Table: Jerry Wong Doubles Through Kenny Hallaert

Lee Davy brings you up to date with updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.

The man who started the final table second lowest in chips, Jerry Wong, first saw action in Hand #25 when he moved all-in for 4,825,000 from middle position, to pick up the blinds and antes. That uncontested shove left him with 6,525,000, good for 11 big blinds, and leaving him with the same strategy he began the match with – all-in or fold.

Then, four hands later, Wong did what Pons had earlier failed to do, after doubling up through Kenny Hallaert. The Unibet Tournament Director opened to 1,400,000 on the button, and Wong moved all-in from the small blind to the tune of 5,525,000, and after the big blind folded, Hallaert made the call.

WSOP Final Table: Fernando Pons Eliminated in 9th Place ($1,000,000)

Lee Davy brings you up to date with updates from the World Series of Poker Main Event as nine players battle it out for the title of poker’s Champion of the World and $8m in prize money.

Only one player was going to travel to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and come away without earning a cent more than he left with in the summer.

The story of Fernando Pons was magical. The Spaniard qualified for the event playing a cheap and cheerful online satellite at 888Poker and turned €30 into $1m. Remarkably, it was his first-ever visit to Las Vegas and had a ring of Chris Moneymaker about his descent.

His second visit hasn’t lasted as long.

Solaire exempted from corporate income tax, says SC

A Philippine Supreme Court has upheld its decision declaring that Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels, Inc.’s (Bloomberry) is exempted from paying corporate income tax as a franchisee of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

The Manila Times reported that the high tribunal has enjoined the country’s Bureau of Internal Revenue from implementing a memorandum circular that imposed corporate income taxes on Pagcor’s and its franchisees’ earnings.

Bloomberry operates Solaire Resort & Casinos.

It pointed out that under Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1869 or the Pagcor Charter, the state regulator should only pay the five percent franchise tax on its gross revenues “in lieu of all taxes of any kind or form, as well as fees, charges or levies of whatever nature, which necessarily include corporate income tax.”

Coral and Digital Sports Tech Launch Play Bets App

UK bookmaker Coral and B2B software provider, Digital Sports Tech, have partnered to launch a new ‘Player Bets’ app that allows punters to bet on the individual performances of players.

Peter Drucker once said that the purpose of business is to create and keep a customer, meaning that the client is the start of the process, and this vital fact often goes missing when companies gather around the whiteboard to search for the next innovative project.

Thankfully, this didn’t happen when Digital Sports Tech got their Post-It Notes out and started scribbling.

We have been gambling since we climbed out of the primordial soup. I  imagine the first bet went something like this.

What movie has made you cry the most?

Mine was My Love, Don’t Cross That River, a 2013 South Korean documentary following the lives of an elderly couple who had lived together for over 70-years.

It was a touching love story, but what struck me more than anything was their minimalist lifestyle. They ate the very basic Korean food; they were mostly alone apart from occasional family visits, and they lived in a shack.

Week 10 EPL Review: City, Liverpool & Arsenal Joint Top

Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool are all on 23-points after all three of them hit their teams for four during Week 10 of the Premier League campaign.

The Manchester City crisis is over.

Pep Guardiola’s run of six barren games without a win ended with a resounding 4-0 victory at The Hawthorns keeping them at the top of the Premier League on goal difference and at the head of the bookmakers pecking order at 6/5 to recapture the title they last won in 2013/14.

West Brom boss, Tony Pulis, told reporters that his goal was a place in Europe after signing a new one-year deal midweek. His rebuilding plans were always going to have to wait until after this game. West Brom had lost the previous nine times they had faced the blue half of Manchester.

Google Researchers Unearth Sophisticated Poker Cheating Device

A researcher from Google has found a sophisticated poker cheating device that allows people to know what cards you are holding by using a specially adapted mobile phone and a deck of cards.

I used to appear in a local poker game in a pub across the road from where I used to live. There were six of us who were hardcore, the type of people who would turn up on Christmas Day. Then there were another six or seven who would frequent the game on an irregular basis. That’s a small sample size of poker players living in a small Welsh Valley of 3,000 people, and yet we still had problems with cheating in the game.

You could break our problems down into two categories.
