PokerStars and the California online poker market has dominated the news this week so that’s where I will begin my customary weekly news round up.

On Sep 18, 2004 229 players each paid €1,000 to compete in the first-ever European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event in Barcelona. 13 Seasons later and 1,785 people have just paid €5,300 to compete in the same event including the golfer Sergio Garcia and Barcelona and Spain centre-half Gerard Pique.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has nostalgia.
