Jockey Stewart Elliott won his first race of the current Santa Anita Park meet Oct. 9 when he guided Ward ‘n Jerry to a neck victory in the sixth race for trainer Mike Puype. It ended a string of 21 straight losses for the 51-year-old journeyman.
