Hollywood Casino owner slams plan to tax promotional credits

The promotional credits doled out by Ohio’s casinos and racinos to attract gamblers would be taxable under a Statehouse proposal that quickly garnered opposition from one of the state’s largest casino operators. Sen. Bill Coley, R-Liberty Township, wants Ohio to apply its 33 percent gaming tax rate to free play, arguing the state’s 11 gambling facilities have fallen short of revenue promises made in 2009.
