More Giants pitchers caught up in betting scandal

A probe on illegal betting involving a Japanese baseball player has led to discovery of two more players betting on baseball games.

Two more Yomiuri Giants pitchers were found to be betting on baseball games, an investigative panel the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) led by lawyer Motonari Otsuru said Wednesday, following revelations earlier this month that pitcher Satoshi Fukuda was involved.

NPB submitted an interim report to NPB Commissioner Katsuhiko Kumazaki, saying that Shoki Kasahara and Ryuya Matsumoto were involved in betting.

The panel found no evidence in its investigation that more Giants players were involved and said none of the three players fix the games or play in the games they were betting on, adding that Kasahara and Matsumoto did not bet on any Giants games.
