Proposed Seminole gaming compact has backers, foes

Seminole Casino officials are betting the house on a proposed agreement with the state that would let the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa and the tribe’s six other Florida casinos add roulette and craps tables to properties that raked in a combined $2.2 billion in gaming last year. Approval of the compact would greenlight a $1.8 billion expansion of the Tampa and Hollywood casino resorts, creating a projected 14,500 construction jobs and more than 4,000 permanent jobs with annual salaries of $50,000 a year or more.
