Scott Seiver is the World Number One

Scott Seiver ends Ole Schemion’s record-breaking stay at the top of the Global Poker Index rankings, by becoming the ninth player to top the charts since their inception.

Scott Seiver is the ninth person to be crowned the world’s best live tournament player, after deposing Ole Schemion from the top of the Global Poker Index (GPI) world rankings, after a record-breaking 18 straight weeks at the top.

His ascension came in a week that saw him continue his unerring ability to consistently cash in the selective events that he partakes in, by finishing eighth in the €100,000 buy-in European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo Super High Roller (SHR). Former, GPI #1 Erik Seidel taking the first prize of over €2m, and Seiver cashed for €261,800.

Seiver described his new title as a ‘huge honor’ and lavished praise on the GPI rankings when he said they ‘always seemed to accurately portray the best players at any time.’ Seiver now looks down at the lot.
